During this period of on March 13, 1989, one of the most intense Substorms occurred during the Great Geomagnetic Storm of March 13-14, 1989. Shown here is both large and intense Eastward and Westward Electrojets positioned over North America. The East ward Electrojet is positioned well down over mid and low latitude portions of the USA. Intensities of disturbances over North America were generally nearly as high as earlier in the day when the Hydro Quebec collapse occurred. Though these disturbance conditions extend much further south.
