Based upon solar flare and CME’s (coronal mass ejections) of October 9 that appear to be Earth-directed, Metatech is issuing a Geomagnetic Storm Advisory. Based upon the limited observational data available, the current levels of solar activity have the potential to trigger a moderate strength geomagnetic storm starting as early as late October 11, 2001.

Please be advised that these several day-ahead projections have considerable uncertainty. Solar wind conditions when observed near earth will determine the severity of any geomagnetic storm activity as the plasma cloud arrives.
